I am loving the screenprinted posters by artist Diana Sudyka of Chicago – her work is all together edgy and whimsical.  With an already enviable pedigree – I can’t wait to see what she will do next.  Be sure to check out her gorgeous site – her illustrations and wedding invites are especially beautiful.

LOVE this new limited edition print from port2port – I am such a fan of her work and the pieces I have purchased in the past have loving places in my home and studio. I will definitely have to add this piece to my collection – like a last touch of summer…  Buy it here.  Have a lovely weekend!

who needs a reason to drink?

Sesame_martini_blue_lg_1

Not only is the color of this coaster the absolute best – the sharp aqua lends itself beautifully to the subject – I love the vintage image of the martini shaker and glasses – some things simply never go out of style.  By Sesame Letterpress at Buy Olympia.

oh domino...

I am sorry to say that the July/August issue of domino really failed to wow me.  But in my post box Saturday was an issue to top all issues!  The issue highlighted the living spaces of some of the most prolific – and soon to be – clothing and accessory designers of right now.  While it was fascinating to view the home – and often creative space of each profiled – there are a few that stood out as truly amazing.  The clean, simple space – yet all together modern appeal of shoe designer Jessie Randall; the cool monochromatic, yet surprisingly cozy loft of Juicy Couture’s Michelle Sanders; and my favorite – Erin Fetherston’s decidedly overtly romantic Parisian apartment.  I also LOVED the creative space of jewelry designer Victorie de Castellane…

More goodies - the profile on L.A. design team Woodson and Rummerfield – their design philosophy mixes Old Hollywood glamour with a touch of classic sensibility.  Their site is filled with an assortment of vintage and one of a kind, show stopping pieces; my favorites include the ram’s head lamp and the cocktails and lace chandelier...

The spread on black vases was particularly enticing – the collection gathered on a roughly hewn table and back dropped against a deep green wall was gorgeous – Frances Palmer’s pieces – with their glossy finishes - are fabulous.

If for some crazy reason you have yet to pick up a copy of domino - this is the one to start with!

gotta get gocco...

Gocco

In my seemingly endless pursuit for a Print Gocco B6 (I don’t think I am capable of winning an ebay auction), I came across the Wurst Gallery – a collection of work dedicated to the little screen printer that could.  Not only is the work wonderful, but each piece is accompanied by a short bio and interview of the artist and what they love about gocco – it is inspiring and only strengthening my desire to find one of these gems!  Worked represented is by:  Brad Simon; Evan B. Harris; Mizna Wada and Xtina Lamb.

find of the week: new lovelies @ Russel+Hazel

Binders

Though I cannot dream of leaving the house without my Filofax – I rarely open it at home – on my desk sits a lovely pale blue binder from Russel+Hazel in which for a lack of a better phrase – I organize my life; beautiful things always help me keep organized because I truly want to use them.  And though my blue binder is barely a year-old, I am now tempted to upgrade as Russel+Hazel has issued some gorgeous graphic prints – truly, how can one resist such temptation?

oh my imogene...

Imogene

The online Imogene boutique offers some truly and fabulous paper goods - I am loving the Leopard Lady card by Ferdinand and Sugar Balloon by Lart Cognac Berliner – check out all the fabu goods here.

wrap it up...

Traceyporter_1

Via the ever-stylish Oh Joy! I came upon the wonderful site Wrapables. I must be going through a dish and dinnerware phase because it’s the first place I peeked into – and I found this gorgeous set by Tracey Porter – I love the juxtaposition of such a refined design motif coupled with heavier, pottery-like pieces.  And I can’t get enough of the inside of the bowl – it looks like pale malachite!

Mudlark

Also loving this set of Mudlark Etiquette Notes – are we sensing a pattern here?

wanna hang out sometime?

Darlingshoppe

I love the ‘passing notes’ collection at Christine Castro’s Darling Shoppe.  The simple phrases that we so often relate to the innocence of yesteryear appear on ruled notepaper and are scrawled in a child-like font.  Each set includes two of each design printed on pure white cards with coordinating aqua envelopes – so embrace that inner third grader who is planning on marrying the boy three seats over…

oh domino...

I always have to post about the new issue of domino – its coverage of Portland’s shopping scene only reiterated to me how badly I need to move there.  After spending a week there this winter – and surprisingly enjoying the very English weather – I came home and announced to my husband that we will be moving to Portland in the next few years.  Always game for adventure, he nodded  - “let’s do it.”  Three of my favorite stores were covered in domino’s shopping issue - Cargo – a massive emporium of Asian antiques and imports – getting lost among the towering Chinese cabinets is one of my fondest memories of the trip; Cielo – basically everything my heart desires – including gorgeously delicate jewelry and Diptyque fragrances and candles; and of course, Oblation Papers and Press – whom my print-making goddess cousin insisted we visit – and where I spent a small fortune.  There are so many unbelievably unique and fabulous stores in Portland – the list should have taken over the whole issue to do them justice!

And there is always at least one space featured in each issue that makes my heart beat a bit faster – in this issue it was Elizabeth Blitzer’s Greenwich Village apartment.  The statement-making black and white palette as well as the modern meets classic design infusion is exactly what I have attempted to create in my own home.  The black Venetian chandelier that hangs over her bed is particularly lust-worthy as is the addition of the Vernor Patton chair at the head of her dining table…
