Amy

Juniper Designs has a new face – that of the exquisite Amy Haney – my goddess-printmaker-soul-sister.  Her look brings a fresh edge to the shop.  Amy was shot by a local photographer, Amiee Photographs – Amiee not only shoots breathtaking work, she was sooo much fun to work with.  I feel to blessed to have established a relationship with her now as she is on the brink of breaking out nationally – she is amazing – to check out some of her recent work, click here.

Ocm

I have two local posts today – I’m not sure how many local (Omaha) readers I have, but I want to let you know that the Omaha Craft Mafia is still actively recruiting.  If you are an indie designer, artist or crafter in the Omaha/Lincoln area we want you!  We hope to host Omaha’s first indie themed craft fair next year – so we are dreaming big!  Join now!

Tilly

While flipping through the new BUST magazine a few days ago, I was gobsmacked to see an article on my hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. The writer, Kianna Alarid, a member of the local-gone-national band Tilly and the Wall mentions some of the coolest spots in town – one of them being Second Chance which is always the first place I scavenge for antique keyholes and belt buckles!  In honor of the article and because I am starting to really get all glowy about this town again, I have started a new category called Ode to Omaha in which I will write about some of the hipper things and people who shape the Downtown/Mid-town spirit that makes this place border on damn cool.  And speaking of Tilly and the Wall – check out there latest effort, Bottom of Barrels, where you can listen to their signature heel-clicking folk-tune happiness!  And be sure to check out their website – it is beyond cool!  Click here to listen and buy.

Hotshops

… move into my studio!  I am so excited to finally have a dedicated space to be working!  The Hot Shops Art Center is a wonderful old warehouse full of artists and designers – I will be sharing a space with a painter whose work I fell in love with upon first sight – Victoria Hoyt (who has also joined the familia!)   I will keep you posted as the space develops!

I am so excited to be the co-founder of the Omaha chapter of the Craft Mafia – the nine muses from Austin who started it all are such an inspiration!  It is a fantastic networking and support system for artists and crafters – I hope this explodes in Omaha – we have such a great creative community and tons of indie artists – what a great opportunity for us to merge and become a supportive unit!
