find of the week: new lovelies @ Russel+Hazel

Binders

Though I cannot dream of leaving the house without my Filofax – I rarely open it at home – on my desk sits a lovely pale blue binder from Russel+Hazel in which for a lack of a better phrase – I organize my life; beautiful things always help me keep organized because I truly want to use them.  And though my blue binder is barely a year-old, I am now tempted to upgrade as Russel+Hazel has issued some gorgeous graphic prints – truly, how can one resist such temptation?

find of the week: bittersweet genevieve

Bittersweetgen

This morning on my daily cruise through blog-land, I found some irresistible change purses via the ever-in-the-know Jan at Poppy.  Jan makes the coolest blog buttons (as you can see to the left) and has a fantastic and highly read blog about all things uber-cool.  Yesterday she posted about a Vancouver based indie designer called Bittersweet Genevieve.  Using vintage fabrics, ephemera, lace accents and an incredible eye for detail, her bags are so – well, bittersweet really.  Check out her absolutely lovely work here.

find of the week: adam and eve...

Adamandeve

Okay – last post about dishes – well – for a few days anyway.  These are awe inspiring and completely original; each piece in the Adam and Eve collection by Italian designer Piero Fornasetti is handmade in Milan.  Fornasetti’s black and white dishware featuring the faces and various body parts of women earned him iconic status.  Yet this collection is equally captivating - the effect is brilliant and would be equally divine as the conversation piece at a fab dinner party – or if I could afford them I would recreate what you see here on a wall in the dining room – brilliant!  Available at Unica Home.

find of the week: sweets and skulls...

Johnnycupcake

I am a skull and crossbones kind of girl – not because it was/is trendy – but because I have been trashing to the likes of Danzig and Metallica since I was 14 – yes, I am a closet metalhead!   When I came across the line of tees and miscellaneous goodies at Johnny Cupcakes, I couldn’t help but smile at the irony – what a symbol for my current existence – cupcakes to symbolize my sweet girls and the cross bones to remind me of inner rock goddess!

find of the week: independent luxe...

Ilblog

Independent Luxe is a fantastic new blog that highlights the designs of up-and-coming independent designers.  Kelly Meeker – who herself is an independent jewelry designer with mouthwatering baubles – has an incredibly discerning eye for high-end indie products.  My favorite feature is her what to wear posts – combing gorgeous pieces from several designers to create one killer outfit.  Be sure to check out this blog to stay in the know of tomorrow’s indie design stars {and stay tuned - she promises big things!}

find of the week: i want to dress like my daughter...

Wellies2_1

To say my daughter is eccentric is an understatement – to say she comes by it naturally would be the understatement of the century.  Regardless of what I have dressed her in every morning, she insists on wearing her grass skirt and flower wellies about the house all day – as well as any adventures we embark on outside the house.  Her sense of whimsy has inspired me to toss my old hunter green wellies and search for something a bit more – well – eccentric!  In doing so I came upon a wonderful site called Funky Wellies – a British based company that proves that even rubber boots can be posh.  My favorites include the Kinky Pink Wellies and the Poppies…

find of the week: mohop...

Mohopshoes2

Mohop of Chicago has the right idea – buy one pair of shoes, wear them countless ways.  The independent shoe designers who launched their business in September 2005, wife and husband team Annie and Siamak Mostoufi have designed three basic heel heights with gorgeous footbed embellishments. Their background in architecture is clear in the fluid, beautiful form of their designs – the best part?  Mix and match from a selection of gorgeous vintage and embellished ribbons to truly make your pair of Mohop’s yours.
